Hay Sales

Your source for high quality Arizona alfalfa.

What is typically available?+

+We specialize in growing and marketing high quality alfalfa hay. There may be times throughout the year where we offer grasses, mixes or straw. For availability and pricing on wholesale truckloads, contact us and we’ll be happy to share our current offerings. Unfortunately, we do not offer sales by the bale, pickup truck, small trailer or stack. Please check with other farms in our area for these services.

Almost every bale of hay and straw is stored under a barn or tarps to protect it from sun and rain, and maintain quality year-round. So from our barn to yours, you can rest assured you’re getting good hay, from first cutting to last, and even in between.

Don’t see what you’re looking for? By all means, let us know. We might be able to help you find it, or even add it to our product mix.

Alfalfa

Number One The best of the best. We’re talking prime here. Fine-stemmed with plenty of leaf, flakes well and weed free.

Number Two Still a high-quality feed, just not good enough for us to classify it as “Number One”. It might have been baled up in the middle of the summer, when it can be a little more challenging for us to get good moisture. Nutritionally, it’s still good stuff. And an even better deal since we discount it some.

Cow HayAn occasional thunderstorm passes over the hay fields even in the desert. These bales might have caught one of those rainstorms, either in the field or in the stack before it was covered with tarps or moved into the barn. Or, it might be a little dry. It is still perfectly fine to feed to cows in the pasture and roping steers.

Wondering about selecting hay? We have a few tips for you.

Certified Noxious Weed Free Alfalfa
Rocker 7 Farms proudly offers Certified Noxious Weed Free alfalfa to government agencies, institutions or individuals in need of hay with this certification. Please be sure to mention the certification when you contact us, and we’ll be happy to get everything in place for you to have that order filled. The “Noxious Weed Free” certification means the hay is free of any noxious weeds. If you purchase hay without this certification, it does not mean your hay will contain weeds, noxious or otherwise.

We talk a little more about the Certified Noxious Weed Free hay here.

Bermuda grass
Another summer grass we have grown for many years. It is rather popular, so we often run out over the winter. Established customers can avoid this by letting us know in advance what their needs are for barn stored Bermuda through the winter.

Straw
The durum wheat we grow makes excellent straw, and the desert climate preserves it well until you’re ready for it. Our wheat is harvested in early June, so we usually ask you reserve your order sometime before then to make sure we bale up enough. We’re always happy to write up a contract with you, even if you don’t need the straw until the following winter.

Sudan grass
A summer grass that makes an excellent cattle feed. We typically grow a small crop – just enough to feed our own cattle and sell to a few local producers, and rarely have much inventory. But if you’re interested, be sure to ask!
